As with most things, there are right ways and there are wrong ways. That certainly is true of interviewing for jobs.

Appearance

With all due respect to lifestyles, the insurance industry is relatively conservative. The clean-cut jobseeker in business attire is the most likely to get the job. Both men and women should dress conservatively.

Preparation

It is very useful to look up at least basic information about the employer company, especially its primary products or services. A jobseeker with favorable comments about the products or services will make a good impression.

Attitude

Display a positive attitude at all times during the job interview, that means being positive about everything that comes up. Do not speak negatively about previous jobs or former bosses. Avoid seeming to be cocky. The candidates who most often get jobs are those who show enthusiasm. It is often a negative when a candidate displays a “know-it-all” with respect to the job and its skills. Instead, concentrate on demonstrating a desire to grow in the job being offered.

Communication Skills

Use only good and respectful grammar. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. It is important to listen as much as talk. It is best to show intensity while listening, followed by an expression of interest in, or gratitude for what had been communicated by the interviewer.
